Naturally Leavened, Wholegrain Breads
At the Steamie Bakehouse we use natural leavens and long, cool fermentation processes. It takes much longer to make bread this way, but we think it is worth it for the flavour, texture and keeping quality, as well as the health and nutritional benefits.
Wholegrain flours are stoneground flours containing nothing more than the ground-up grain berries. Nothing removed and nothing added. We think that wholegrain flours produce the best breads: they taste better, keep you going longer and last for ages. Properly made, with natural leavens, they are light and easy to eat for both children and grown-ups.
